Somewhere over the rainbow

This rainy season, here in Aizawl, is lingering on well past its accustomed end, moistening afternoons more often than not, of late. Today, while gazing out across the valley during training, the sun peaked through the clouds, and the misting rain turned the rays of light into a glistening rainbow. It was a beautiful sight, alone, but the amazing part was that I was above the rainbow. The low clouds, and tall steep hills, somehow allowed the light to reflect in a rather Oz like way. Rainbows always hold a certain magic, and it is an especially strange feeling to look down on a rainbow, even when you know the physics of the thing. Somewhat surreal, and all the more difficult to fend off the notion of it as a tangible thing. Only a few moments allowed for reverie, though, for the clouds closed once again, and with the departure of the sun, the rainbow faded before my eyes, slowly melting back into the mist. Just another of those random moments of wonder; those experiences that collectively ground our sense of awe, and gratitude. I have been fortunate to collect moments from many strange corners of the globe, and am grateful to have been exposed to such unique perspectives.
