Nerds 3.0

If you need to find an expat in Mae Sot on a Tuesday evening, head to Thaime's Bar. Tuesday is quiz night, and this is taken Very seriously. Americans are at a staged disadvantage - the quiz is run by Aussies, and the questions are often very Euro-centric. Nevertheless, on this fine evening, an all American team (well, one member is half-Thai) won quiz night, the third combination amalgamating around the axis of Kate and Brian, NERDS 3.0 took home the prize: one third of the kitty* (a whopping 1500 Baht!, as bar credit) and a jade medallion. Except that they left the medallion at home. Still! The first appearence of Jen Leigh proved to be most auspicious, and has guaranteed her competitive invitations to future quiz teams! For NO ONE else at the bar knew that Hippopotomonstosesuippedaliophobia is the fear of very long words, and few knew that the UK has the most investments in Burma's oil industry, or that kidney dialysis is (generally) hooked up through the radial artery. Yes friends, it was quite a night. Until tomorrow night, which is movie night, at the out door screen at Water Bar (unless it rains, which, considering its the rainy season, is exceedingly likely).
